The January 2011 IPMS St. Louis meeting was held on January 4, 2011 at Thornhill Branch Library. Nine people were in attendance. We had a first-time guest, Larry Ehret, who's a new officer in IPMS Gateway. (His e-mail is

President Bob Delaney brought in the cyber-hobby.com 1:700 scale Admiral Makharov and USS Dallas (SSN-700) two-ship kit. He's started assembly on the Dallas, and hopes to have it done or early done by this time next month.
Brad Parker brought in his Dragon 1:35 scale German mortar Thor that's in progress. Andy Abshier brought in a Hobby Boss 1:48 scale F6F-5 Hellcat.
Bob Delaney shared news from IPMS/USA Region 5 Coordinator Kelly Quirk, including listings of upcoming shows in the region. The e-mail mentioned that nominations for R-5 Chapter, Newsletter, and Website of the Year are being accepted through 1 March. Quirk also sent the flyer for the IPMS West Central Missouri show on Sat., 16 April in Kansas City, MO (new location). I also shared the latest newsletter (Signal Charlie) from the Missouri Aviation Historical Society, and word of their next meeting in Clayton on Wed., 9 Feb. Del Miller, Bob Gerhardt and Brad Parker shared info on upcoming releases and rumors from the hobby. Miller mentioned that if anyone's going to Omaha for this year's IPMS/USA National Convention (3-6 August) that there is a World War II minesweeper on display there. He added that this vessel is a sister ship to USS Inaugural, which once was displayed on the St. Louis riverfront.
