IPMS-St. Louis Wins Awards at 2007 Gateway Invitational IPMS-St. Louis chapter members placed 3rd in a number of categories at the recent IPMS-Gateway to the West Invitational Show held on September 15th, 2007.  Brad Parker took home the bronze in the 'Diorama' and 'Figures' categories while Rick Reinbott placed 3rd in '1/72 Prop Aircraft' and '1/32 Jet Aircraft'.  The  award-winning entries are shown below.  Congratulations to all members who won awards, you represented the chapter well!     1/35 Scale Diorama 'End of the line, Fritz!' by Brad Parker       90mm 'Johnny Reb' Figure by Brad Parker       1/72 Matchbox Hawker Tempest Mk. IPMS-St. Louis "Shows off its Stuff" at Thornhill Library For the month of May 2007, IPMS-St. Louis has the display case located in the main lobby of the St. Louis County Library's Thornhill Branch at 12863 Willowyk Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146, which is the meeting place for our chapter.  Models include aircraft, ships, armor, helicoptors and a missle launcher.  Some “bios” were written by some modelers describing what the models represented so as to educate the public more about what the models represent.  Reference books and information about the chapter was also added to the display to add more variety.  Please come and check out our display, it's awesome!     Thanks to all members who were able to contribute models and materials for the display; you've represented the chapter very well!

IPMS-St. Louis Nominated by IPMS/USA for 2006 Webmaster of the Year Award   IPMS-St. Louis was honored by being selected as one of the five finalists by IPMS/USA for the IPMS/USA 2006 Webmaster of the Year Award!  The finalists for the award were:  IPMS/Military Modelers  - Louisville, KY IPMS/Niagara Frontier - Buffalo, NY IPMS/Eastern Carolina Plastic Modelers - New Bern, NC IPMS/Saint Louis – St. Louis, MO IPMS/Silicon Valley Scale Modelers – Milpitas, CA  The award for the IPMS/USA 2006 Webmaster of the Year went to John Heck of IPMS/Silicon Valley Scale Modelers; congratulations John!

IPMS-St. Louis “Shows Off its stuff” at Daniel Boone Library             For the month of May 2006, IPMS-St. Louis had the display case at the Daniel Boone branch of the St. Louis County Library in Ellisville, Mo to “show its stuff”.  Models included aircraft, armor, and artillery, with scales ranging from 1/72nd to 1/32nd.  To add variety to the display, kits were displayed in the box, on the sprues, and as fully assembled.  Reference materials and tools were also displayed to give the public a better understanding of the research involved and the variety of tools used by today’s serious modeler.  Creative “bios” written by the modelers describing what the models represented were used to educate the public more about what they were looking at.  Chapter member Dan Bartlett used his models and visual aids to create a very colorful “Pacific Theater of Operations” theme.   Thanks to all members who were able to contribute models and materials for the display; you represented the chapter very well!
